ZeeCue Licensing & requirements
Minimum System Requirements:
Windows 10, compatible with Windows 11
macOS 10.14 (Mojave)
An HDMI or SDI output from your laptop is required if using with our ZeePrompt teleprompter range.
If you are still using ZeeCue V1, we recommend you upgrade to V2 now. You will not need to re-enter your licence key.
Yes, you can download the application and use all features for 7 days. After this, you will need to enter the licence key which is shipped with the ZeePrompt kit.
A licence is only shipped with the purchase of our ZeePrompt teleprompter. You can purchase further licences from this website
Please contact us with your ZeePrompt serial number, OR any proof of purchase and we will be glad to send you a new code.
We don't supply a remote controller, however, some off-the-shelf wireless mice will work with ZeeCue. More information about this can be found in the ZeeCue user guide (from the application help button) or the help video above.
One licence key allows you to install ZeeCue on upto three devices. If you need to install further devices, you can deactivate an existing device (from the About button). Alternatively, please contact us and we can offer a bespoke licence key.
After activation, the licence key will expire after 10 years.
No. We have only developed the application for PC and Mac.
ZeeCue/ZeePrompt Troubleshooting
On macOS, an error can occur where the system does not "see" the ZeePrompt monitor.
Here are the most effective ways to kick the system back into gear:
- Force a Display Detection: Go to System Settings > Displays. Hold down the Option key, and a "Detect Displays" button will appear in the bottom right. This forces the Mac to re-poll the hardware.
- Clear the Display Cache: This is the "nuclear option" for WindowServer errors. You’ll need to delete the files in /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist and the display-related plists in your user ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/ folder, then restart.
- Toggle "Displays have separate Spaces": Sometimes a mismatch in how macOS handles virtual desktops causes the black screen. Try toggling this setting in Desktop & Dock and logging out/in.
- The Power Cycle Trick: For flickering or unrecognised displays, unplug the monitor from power and the Mac for 30 seconds. It sounds basic, but it clears the handshake state in the monitor's firmware.
How to Fix: Status 47 (Clock Sync Error)
This error happens because your computer’s clock is not perfectly synced with the actual time on the internet. Our security system requires an accurate clock to verify your license.
Please follow these steps to sync your clock:
Step 1: Sync your time in Windows Settings
Right-click the Time and Date in the bottom-right corner of your taskbar.
Select Adjust date/time.
Ensure Set time automatically is toggled ON.
Ensure Set time zone automatically is toggled ON.
Scroll down to "Additional settings" and click the Sync now button.
Note: You should see a small checkmark once it completes.
Step 2: Restart the Application
Once you see the "Successful" checkmark in your settings, close your software completely and try opening it again.
Still getting the error?
If the steps above didn't work, your "Windows Time" service might be stuck. Here is a quick reset:
Click the Start button and type cmd.
Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
Copy and paste the following commands one by one, pressing Enter after each:
net stop w32time
w32tm /unregister
w32tm /register
net start w32time
w32tm /resync
Restart your computer and try the software again.
Why does this happen? Our licensing system uses "Network Time" to prevent clock tampering. Even if your clock looks correct to the eye, if it is off by more than 60 seconds from the global atomic clock, the software will block access for security reasons.
What does Error 58 mean?
Error code 58 means your ZeeCue license has reached its activation limit. Each license is allowed to be active on up to three devices at the same time. This error appears when an activation is attempted after that limit has already been used up.
This is not a bug and it does not mean your license is invalid. It simply means ZeeCue needs to know which device should hold the active seat before it can proceed.
Common causes
- You are activating Zee Cue on a new computer without deactivating it on an old one first
- You reinstalled your operating system or reset your machine, which can leave the previous activation "stuck" as active
- You are trying to use the same license on more devices than it is licensed for
How to fix it
Option 1: Deactivate the old device If you still have access to the previous device, open Zee Cue there and deactivate the license before activating it on the new device. This frees up the seat immediately.
Option 2: Contact us to reset the seat remotely If the old device is no longer available (for example, it was sold, wiped, or has failed), get in touch with us and we can release that activation seat for you from our side.
Option 3: Purchase additional licence keys here
It’s very important to ensure your mac display setting is ‘optimised for external monitor’, in this case, the ZeePrompt monitor, and NOT the computer display. The ZeePrompt monitor is optimised for 1080, 50/60Hz.
You should also change the refresh rate from ProMotion to 60Hz.
